Paragraph Spacing

Spacing between paragraphs, or between a heading and the text that follows, is an important feature in making documents more readable.

Compare the two examples below. Which one do you think is easier to read?

The technique you use to insert spacing between paragraphs.

The best technique is to click on Format on the menu, then select Paragraphs, and then select Spacing Before or Spacing After. You can set the spacing to whatever you choose. One line of spacing is actually 12 points.

It is really useful to know that you can set paragraph spacing to any number, large or small. This is important when you are trying to get your layout just right, so that you can fit everything on a page, believe me!
